Christopher Canfield has been practicing for 25 years in the fields of trusts and estates and related tax law. He serves in an Of Counsel capacity to Goetz Platzer’s Trusts & Estates group.
Chris is an expert advisor to individuals and small businesses on how to protect their hard-earned assets using all aspects of estate and tax planning. This includes forming various types of trusts and crafting wills and other end-of-life documents that clearly state wishes and direct estate assets as intended by the client.
Chris also represents executors and trustees in Surrogate’s Court matters.
Prior to attending law school, Chris was an associate at a large accounting firm. He maintains his status as a certified public accountant (CPA), allowing him to better advise his clients on how best to protect their assets from undue or unnecessary taxation.
In addition to Chris’ extensive work in the trusts and estates field, he is also a certified Court Examiner, assisting the New York State Supreme Court in overseeing numerous Article 81 cases regarding state-appointed guardianship.
