Experience
Michael Fleishman heads Goetz Platzer’s Labor & Employment group, practicing in the area of commercial litigation with a focus on construction, labor, and employment disputes.
Michael’s clients regard him as a trusted advisor, turning to him to draft documentation that will minimize the risk of future conflict with regards to employment, severance, and employee conduct. When a dispute arises, his goal is always to meet his clients’ expectations, assessing what they hope to accomplish and developing a strategy to achieve that outcome. He meticulously analyzes each case, educating clients about their options so they are fully aware of the pros and cons of each possible course of action.
Michael’s practice includes representing companies in labor and employment matters, such as wage and hour, prevailing wage, and employment discrimination cases. His expert negotiation skills often result in resolution through mediation and arbitration before pursuing the more time-consuming and costly route of litigation.
He routinely represents a variety of construction clients, including owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, as well as employers involved in union disputes including employer benefit plans and claims for employer contributions. He has prosecuted and defended cases in both state and federal court, as well as before various federal, state, and city administrative agencies, including the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Department of Labor, New York State Division of Human Rights, and the New York City Comptroller’s office.
