With the first iteration of Goetz Platzer LLP formed in 1967, founding partner Peter Goetz leaves behind an impressive legacy as an attorney with more than 50 years in the construction and real estate fields. Mr. Goetz was fundamental in establishing an institution reputed for loyalty, honesty, and commitment to its clients. The firm has forged long and lasting client relationships for over 50 years, a legacy that will continue for many years to come.

Goetz Fitzpatrick Timeline

  1. Breaking Through the Industry

    In 1967, good friends Peter Goetz and Gerry Fitzpatrick were feeling restless. Both had built strong careers in engineering and construction, but discovered there were new and exciting opportunities in these fields which could be pursued through the practice of law. With a leap of faith and dogged determination, Goetz and Fitzpatrick eschewed their burgeoning careers and opened the first iteration of Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP. During their initial years of practice, they navigated the often rough and tumble landscape of New York City construction with loyalty, honesty, accessibility, and commitment to their clients, the same principles that guide the firm to this day.

  2. Commanding New Headquarters

    Goetz Fitzpatrick commands new headquarters when the firm moves into space at One Penn Plaza, its current home.

  3. A Change in Leadership

    Goetz Fitzpatrick sees a change in leadership when Bill Flynn joins Goetz and Fitzpatrick. GF becomes Goetz Fitzpatrick & Flynn. Gerry Fitzpatrick dies.

  4. Partnership Growth

    Goetz Fitzpatrick & Flynn sees growth and is renamed Goetz, Fitzpatrick, Carbone, Eiseman, Finegan & Rubin to reflect current partnership structure of firm.

  5. A New Merger

    The firm sees more growth when Goetz, Fitzpatrick, Carbone, Eiseman, Finegan & Rubin merges with Ferster, Bruckman, Wohl, Most & Rothman and becomes known as Goetz, Fitzpatrick, Most & Bruckman.

  6. Renaming

    Goetz, Fitzpatrick Most & Bruckman is renamed Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP.

  7. Moving Up

    The firm moves to its current space within 1 Penn Plaza. To this day, GF remains the longest tenured tenant at 1 Penn.

  8. Commercial Leasing

    Gerald Morganstern joined the firm to cement the firm’s commercial leasing practice. GF expands into commercial leasing.

  9. Rebranding a Legacy

    The firm celebrates its 50th anniversary with a gala for its clients, friends and colleagues. The orange GF "Maze" logo is born, rebranding the firm’s legacy.

  10. New Partner

    The firm welcomes Aaron Boyajian as an equity partner of the firm.

  11. Female Leadership

    The firm welcomes its first female equity partner Alison Arden Besunder.

  12. New Merger

    The firm sees massive growth when Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP merges with Platzer, Swergold, Goldberg, Katz, and Jaslow LLP to form Goetz Platzer LLP.
